Kino Lorber has acquired North American rights to A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, the Iranian film that premiered five months ago at Sundance. The film also opened the New Directors/New Films event in New York.

Shot in black and white, the feature debut of Ana Lily Amirpour is described as a neo-noir Spaghetti Western and is set in an imaginary Iranian ghost town, overrun with seedy characters all unknowingly being stalked by a vampire girl.

Argo actress Sheila Vand stars as the vampire and Arash Marandi (Kunduz: The Incident at Hadji Ghafur), Dominic Rains (The Taqwacores), Mozhan Marnó (House of Cards, The Stoning of Soraya M), Rome Shadanloo, Marshall Manesh and Milad Eghbali are also in the film.

Kino Lorber is planning a theatrical release for the film in October, and will follow-up with a digital and home media release early next year. They are partnering with Vice Media for promotion and social media campaigns. A wise choice given the film’s accolades on its original music choices and its off-beat genre.
