Purposely ridiculous and quirky, this movie should by no means be taken seriously and it seems to be content with that. It was one of those movies that I really wanted to like but it was completely disappointing.

Black Snake Moan had so much potential with its dirty style of visual and unique characters and performances, unfortunately by the conclusion that potential withered down to hardly mediocre.

Heavy Times is an indie comedy that will remind you of The Hangover and Superbad. Directed by Benjamin Mark and Ryan McKenna, it takes you on a wild joy-ride with three best friends and a loud and obnoxious brother-in-law. The characters get way outside their comfort zone and so do we.

I was hoping this would fill a void for me personally in the horror genre being that when the trailers came out for this, it looked like a throwback style of horror. Real horror. Unfortunately, this accomplished no such thing.

It has been nearly 50 years since Thor was originally created as a comic book hero by Marvel Comics. In what seems as a last effort to milk the comic book turn movie trend, Hollywood gives us Thor. Speaking of trends in Hollywood, Thor does not seem to skimp in the product placement department (Acura being the main offender). Having never read the comic books, I can only base my review off this film. It seems fair to assume that a film would give you the proper background for those in that position. Spoiler alert, it does not.

Wonderful World is an indie drama that stars Matthew Broderick in a role that is not what most people are used to seeing him in. It’s a directorial debut for Joshua Goldin but it is not the first time Goldin and Broderick have a film in common with one another. Goldin wrote Out on a Limb which Broderick stared in. This film is not the most put-together film but the writing seemed solid. Maybe Goldin should stick to writing.

The latest trend in horror seems to be getting away from the cheap scares and more into the extreme gore type. I have heard a lot about Hostel being very gory and trying to bring myself to watch more horror movies, I obligated.

Nightfur is a quirky independent film, written and directed by Jason Brown, about science fiction, fantasy and even a little bit of romance. Most of the acting feels emotionless and the plot is not very deep but one thing is certain, the story is original. I feel like Jason Brown got exactly what he wanted out of the film, whether or not the audience got the same might be another story.
