Dogtooth
Dogtooth is disturbing anti-social satire that is shot in an art-house sort of way. After the conclusion of most films, you can form an opinion fairly soon after the final credits roll. But there are some films that are so unique and different that you must let them sit with you for a bit before you can approach a final opinion. Dogtooth fits in the category of the latter. It is possibly the most original movie of the year, perhaps second only to Enter The Void. |

No Sweat
Hipsters love American Apparel almost as much as they love their PBR, this documentary is largely about how the CEO of American Apparel operates his company differently than most other manufacturers of clothing. If there is one thing you will walk away knowing from this documentary, it’s that the CEO of American Apparel is one crazy human being. |

The Company Men
The Company Men is a feel good film about 3 different characters dealing with downsizing at their company. Their family, lifestyles and self-worth all must go through drastic changes. The film’s cast is stacked; Ben Affleck, Chris Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Costner, Craig T. Nelson and Maria Bello, but with no fault of their own, the film as a whole does not seem to hit emotionally. The film’s script takes no risks, which in the end, is what hurt it the most. |

Little Blue Pill
Aaron Godfred’s feature film debut, Little Blue Pill, is a raunchy indie comedy about a young man who accidentally takes Viagra like pills and experiences all the side-effects that comes with them. The plot is both simple and ridiculous yet somehow manages to keep you entertained throughout. It is full of laughs; just do not watch this with your grandma. |

Get Low
Get Low is a period drama about an old hermit set in the 1930’s with a mysterious past. The roles are filled with two highly respected actors, Robert Duvall and Bill Murray. A lot of people will watch it just for them, but the good news is there is more than just that to look forward to. |

Let Me In
Let Me In is an American remake of the Swedish original called Let the Right One In. The film restores faith to those who thought an American vampire film done well was impossible. I must confess that I am not a huge fan of vampire films nor have I seen the original Swedish version, which in return makes it all the more impressive that I found it so entertaining. |

Carlos
I knew half way through the first part of the excellent film Carlos, that it would be the best film I would see in 2010. Carlos is at the apex of filmmaking, a true juggernaut of a film. It commands your attention for over 5 hours and is never boring. Edgar Ramirez gives a standout leading performance as The Jackal and he is on screen for nearly every second of the epic film. All the weight of the material is on him and carries it with ease. Which is why I think Carlos is the best film of 2010. |

Heavy Times
Heavy Times is an indie comedy that will remind you of The Hangover and Superbad. Directed by Benjamin Mark and Ryan McKenna, it takes you on a wild joy-ride with three best friends and a loud and obnoxious brother-in-law. The characters get way outside their comfort zone and so do we. |
