By the way when the kid who portrays Jesus reveals that he is Buddhist, all the informed person can think is, “yeah well according to some Gnostic texts so was the real Yeshua.” These simple folk, most of whom are lost in their desolate isolation from modernity are a prime example of relativity. Their ability to cope in such a mundane, monotonous and myopic environment shows the odd mental and psychological resilience inherent to humans. It shows that Evolution and it’s main mechanism natural selection is a species-wide versus individual process, and is by no means linear in its trajectory. Serendipity not who is the “fittest,” often determines who shall persevere. The real is usually much more amusing than the contrived.

This is real life dumbass. It’s not a Chris Guest “mockumentary” it is a documentary about what happens when you live in the past failing to progress with the forward flow of time, and when magical-thinking can be just as much a curse served in Limbo, as those who are oblivious believe it to be a blessing. Get some facts in your life genius. America needs a mirror held up to it until it fesses the fuck up. WAKE UP!

This movie is pure gold. The story, the music, amazing camera angels, central casting could never be this good in in a Hollywood feature film. The story line can be appreciated by all who have been brought up in a small religious community and has had the courage to be honest and open about their personal beliefs. Claiming to be non-Christian in a small town can easily be social suicide. The film ends with everything being o.k. but I wonder if they really are… Does this town really accept Zack after the cameras leave? There’s got to be a sequel.
