Miss G personifies this existential tension. Fiamme symbolizes realized sexual blossoming, and plot dynamics revolve around Miss G’s conflicts with “desire” — a curricular theme of hers — and her own cloistered living situation at St. Matilda’s.

The visual symbolism in this movie is profound, and so far in my reading of reviews this symbolism is entirely missed.

Perhaps Shakespearean in plot focus, the themes in Cracks seem more derived from the works of the Brontes.
