Welcome to another episode of “The Swap.” For those who don’t know, “The Swap” is a podcast where a guest and I recommend a film to each other related to a specific topic or theme. There’s only one rule: The movie we choose has to be one the other has never seen.

In this episode, Rob Trench and I recommend documentaries to each other. To start things off, I give my thoughts on Guy Maddin’s My Winnipeg before Rob tells me what he thinks of Thom Andersen’s epic Los Angeles Plays Itself.

Catch up by listening to Episode 1 (The Seventh Continent & Pi) and Episode 2 (25th Hour and Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives), and let us know your thoughts and suggestions for future episodes. And if you’d like to be a guest on a future edition of “The Swap”, contact us!

Hello again, and welcome to another episode of “The Swap.” For those who don’t know, “The Swap” is a podcast where a guest and I recommend a film to each other related to a specific topic or theme. There’s only one rule: The movie we choose has to be one the other has never seen.

In this episode, my guest is longtime friend, and Way Too Indie contributor, Blake Ginithan. We decided to select from the best films of the 21st century list from “They Shoot Pictures, Don’t They?” After talking about the list itself and how it influenced our viewing habits over the years, we give our thoughts on the recommended films we saw. Blake assigned me Spike Lee’s 25th Hour and I gave him the homework of watching Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. Check out how we reacted to our recent viewings.

Catch up by listening to Episode 1, and let us know your thoughts and suggestions for future episodes. If you’d like to be a guest on a future edition of “The Swap”, contact us!

In the first half, we talk Michael Haneke's The Seventh Continent and follow it with a discussion of Darren Aronofsky's Pi.

We’re introducing a new podcast on the site called The Swap. What is The Swap? Every month a guest and I will recommend a film to each other, watch the recommendation, and then sit down and discuss our thoughts on both movies. There’s only one rule: Whatever we’re watching has to be something we haven’t seen before. On this first edition, Way Too Indie writer Nikola Grozdanovic and I recommend a terrific directorial debut to each other. In the first half, we talk Michael Haneke’s The Seventh Continent (my recommendation to Nikola), and follow it with a discussion of Darren Aronofsky’s Pi (Nikola’s recommendation to me).

Be sure to rate the podcast, and subscribe to us on iTunes. If you liked this episode, please let us know, and if you’d like to be a guest be sure to contact us. Keep your ears open as well for the next episode of The Swap, where me and a guest will discuss 25th Hour and Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives.
